The Youth Development Institute (YDI) has a philosophy of self help emphasizing the elimination and prevention of social problems through self determination, creative citizen involvement, establishing positive role models, providing wholesome and constructive programs for the youth of our community.  YDI is dedicated to improving the quality of life for youth and their families.

The YDI concept grew out of a need in the Pontiac area for programs which could address the problems faced by the youth of the area, related to drug abuse, lack of employment and constructive activities, no positive role models and the lack of the pursuit of educational and business opportunities.
